APRIL 2022: SPOOF WEBSITE – POSSIBLE PHISHING ATTEMPT
Dechert LLP has been made aware of a website at https://marcosandmarcoslawfirm.com/ claiming to be the site of a Solicitors Regulation Authority (“SRA”) regulated law firm called 'Marcos And Marcos Law Firm'. It appears that this site has copied large sections of our website and replaced references to our firm with 'Marcos And Marcos Law’. The website misuses the names and photographs of genuine Dechert Lawyers – in most cases the pictures of Dechert lawyers are used alongside bogus names. However, in some instances the actual name of the lawyer appears alongside their picture. The domain is not owned or used by Dechert LLP and we confirm that we have no connection to 'Marcos And Marcos Law Firm'. This matter has been reported to the SRA and Action Fraud.
We recommend that before you establish a new relationship with a lawyer, you check their credentials and the law firm that they are associated with through the regulator in the appropriate jurisdiction – most have publicly searchable online registers.
If you have cause for concern, or suspect you may be a victim of fraud, please contact your national fraud and cybercrime reporting centre.
